The markup tags and the document structure are simply the HTML codes. There simple function is to instruct the browser on how the content of your web page is to be displayed. Tags come in pairs. They are the opening tags and the closing tags. They are known as angle brackets and are denoted by the
characters “ “. The closing tags are often preceded by the forward slash mark, such as ” / “. There are many basic tags that should be included in the page. The Document tags are used to define the structure of the HTML document. It can be diversified into 4 basic document tags. It is a must to include these 4 basic tags in every web page that you create. Be advised to make use of the angle brackets when you use these tags. These are as follows:
html and /html
It tells the browser that whatever is present amidst opening html and the closing /html tag is the HTML document. It is imperative for every web page to begin and end in this fashion.
head and /head
These documents normally represented by a “head” and a “body”. The head contains a descriptive knowledge about the page, such as the title of the page and the information on the author.
title and /title
The title of the HTML document is enclosed in the title tags. The title is displayed on the bar of the web browser and gives information on the page. It is important to include the title tags in the head of the document.
body and /body
These enclose the content the web page holds. Whatever the content you want to include about the page is to be enclosed between body and the /body tags.
